Updated Romaine Lettuce Warning

Based on new information, CDC has revised its warning to consumers based on the origin of the romaine lettuce.
CDC is advising that U.S. consumers not eat and retailers and restaurants not serve or sell any romaine lettuce
harvested from the Central Coastal growing regions of northern and central California. -
PPDh Offers Live Well With Diabetes at Grace Meadows

The Pomperaug District Department of Health is offering an evidence-based program for persons with diabetes or pre-diabetes at Grace Meadows, 380 N Poverty Rd in Southbury, 1:00 – 3:30 PM every Wednesday afternoon from December 5 through January 16. PDDH to Hold Free Flu Shot Clinic on December 1

The Pomperaug Health District will be holding a flu shot clinic on Saturday, December 1 from 10:00 AM to noon at their office as part of the state-wide Influenza Vaccination Campaign for National Immunization Week.

CDC is Advising U.S. Consumers Not to Eat Romaine lettuce Due to E. coli Outbreak

CDC advises Consumers who have any type of romaine lettuce in their home should not eat it and should throw it away, even if some of it was eaten and no one has gotten sick.

PDDH Strongly Recommends Closure of Jackson Cove Beach due to Blue Green Algae Bloom

The Pomperaug District Department of Health has strongly recommended that the Town of Oxford close the Jackson Cove Beach for swimming until further notice. The presence of cyanobacteria, aka blue-green algae, was observed beginning on August 3rd by the Pomperaug District Department of Health. On August 8th, the bloom was significantly worse.
